Get Viagra at IslamToday.com?

So I visited IslamToday.com to find an answer to a question and found something very awkward and different for the website under the general supervision of Shaykh Salman Al-Oadah. Here is a screen cap of the main page that I saw.

Yes that says Certified Canadian Pharmacy, Xanax, and Viagra with free shipping under the Fatwa Archive. Usually you’ll find newly submitted or recently relevant fatāwa (i.e. Hajj related answers in Dhul-Qi’dah), yet here we see adverts for popular prescriptions instead. Can it be that IslamToday.com got hacked?

Let’s take a closer look. I clicked on one of the links to see what it had to say. Turns out it just leads to a blank fatwa with no question and no answer. Very weird.

Interestingly enough, each of the “Fatwa” links are grouped under the Science and Beliefs subcategory page under the Science & Technology main category page.

Can it be that whoever hacked IslamToday.com felt there is some sort of link between principles of Islamic belief and expensive pharmaceutical and commonly spammed drug brands? Or am I just reading into this more than I should and bringing undue attention to this problem?

In any case, I sent an Email to the IslamToday.com team to let them know about it. Hope it gets fixed.

  5. There are some legitimate Halal uses for Viagra. Islam has never promoted celibacy over of marriage.
