2½ Year Old Maryam Abbasi Recites Surah Teen

February 28th, 2008  Posted in Quran

There are oodles of videos of kids reciting Quran on the internet, but this one from the UK really took the cake for me, mashaAllah. May Allah bless her and her family and bless us all with children whose tongues are wet with the Word of Allah.

Motion Tracking for Nintendo Wii – Sweet Modification

February 26th, 2008  Posted in Gaming

This is awesome! The Nintendo Wii was already amazing, but with this it can make its one-player gaming a “revolution” forreal. Imagine an FPS like Metroid Prime or even Metal Gear Solid type games, or even Mario adventure titles with this kinda technology! You literally move out of the way and it’d look like you’re moving out of the way, not just moving your body from a 2D image.

Confused? Watch the video and see for yourself! This is making me want to get a Wii more and more (don’t hold your breath, Waasiq). Video found from MR.

Pothole Pwnage

February 25th, 2008  Posted in Chicago

There are so many potholes in Chicago, that I’m starting to think the city needs to borrow from Mayor Quimby and The Simpsons for a solution. “There’s nothing on earth like a genuine, bona fide, electrified, six-car monorail!”

Earlier this month, my brother’s car got a flat tire from going over a pothole on his commute to and from downtown Chicago from the suburbs. Upon riding the car back home, the tire was so jacked, we needed to replace it with a new one. Two weeks later, on Saturday, he got another flat tire; this time on a completely brand new tire!

The city is overflowing with potholes everywhere. Every single day, I find myself avoiding some monstrous bottomless pit on the roads, not only in the city, but even throughout the suburbs. Read more »

The Best Lens

February 21st, 2008  Posted in Events

Last night was a full lunar eclipse, and alhumdulillah, I was able to pray the two rakah from the tradition of our Prophet, sal Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, for it. It was an interesting night and turn of events.

It started with a post on MuslimMatters.org that reminded me of the eclipse and the prayer that goes along with it. Last year, the eclipse was on March 3rd, 2007, and I was unable to pray the prayer due to a dawath at my house during the time of the eclipse. So I remember making the intention one lunar year ago that I would do my best to catch the lunar eclipse and pray the two rakah from the Sunnah for it, bi’ithniAllah. Thanks to the MuslimMatters.org post, I was informed of the eclipse to be at 9:00pm and got myself hyped up to pray. Read more »

Allah Knows

February 19th, 2008  Posted in Music

I am continually finding that the highest of musical skill comes from producing tracks without instruments using A Capella, and this song by Zain Bhika and Dawud Wharnsby Ali are one of many examples that prove it.

Through all the good and difficult times in your life, whatever happens to you, Allah knows. Great message for all of us, now matter how life is going. Props to AbdelRahman for the find.
